I was coasting along on the joy of a successful chinese new year dumpling dinner party/ glutton fest and then everyone had to go and i felt sad and lonely. So i took photos of myself to put on the internet.

i've been listening to jens lekman's supreme ep non stop, it almost makes the morning commute fun. i like the feeling of being very matchy matchy when dressing myself - got spots on spots today (to match my spotty face, haha). the last few weeks have been über busy which almost justifies my recent indulgent splurges. got some lovely dr martens in the sale, but my wonderful wonderful boy bought me the most beautiful apc sandals. then i got myself in a bit of tizz in liberty this evening whilst going through the remaining bits of their sale - got that carven flared leather skirt i've been coveting for the last few months and a pretty silk sea ny dress.

i wouldn't usually advocate this type of rash indulgence, but i'm enjoying my grown up regular income and i've got pretty shoes to dance to jens in so i'm okay with it.

christmas is the season of indulgence. i've eaten so much bacon that my throat hurts from the salt (i wish that was a joke) and i'm currently working my way through a profiterole stack. fantasising about cute luxurious leather bits and pretty prints although i think the slightly more affordable prospect of dousing myself in tom ford perfumes would have the same self-satisfying effect. for now, i'm pretty content listening to brian eno's gospel hour on jarvis cocker's sunday service and setting the very handsome michael pitt in prada as my desktop background.

This indian summer is confusing. Because it's hot but it still gets dark at 7 and all i want to wear is that jumper that i bought last week which should be fine because it's OCTOBER. But this weather means bbqs and wearing shorts again (although gotta confess that my bare legs aren't shaved and haven't been for a couple of weeks because the weather caught me offguard and no one's looking that closely anyway. and even if they are, really do they care? because i don't).

Besides, the world has been infinitely more beautiful ever since i watched Drive on Friday. Currently experincing a huge teengirl crush on Ryan Gosling and listening to the ace soundtrack.

I went to an amazing market last weekend and picked up some very swish stuff for a minimal amount of pennies, and my lovely boyfriend bought me a sweet pair of wade ceramic lions.

Although recently, apart from a rusty/tan coloured h&m splurge and a surprise trip on a tandem bike, all energy has been focused on surviving the move down to london (this weekend!). This has obviously involved multiple trips to ikea, and i'm now the proud owner of an enamel colander and a set of ceramic knives.

RE my last post: thanks to everyone for being so lovely but i feel a bit embarassed. It wasn't supposed to be a "woe is me, i'm a fatty (please tell me i'm not fat)" sort of post because how much i/anyone weighs is really no big deal. Just an observation/complaint about the culture gap between me and my family. My relatives aren't cruel, just chinese; "you've gained weight" is a standard greeting that i can never get used to. Ah, I'm always chinese in england and english in china.

Procrastinating instead of washing up. Going back to china always makes me feel so fat - it's not the overeating (because we all know i love that) but it's all the people who think it's ok to see me and say "OH YOU'RE MUCH FATTER THAN THE LAST TIME I SAW YOU" and "YOUR SHOULDERS ARE SOOOOOOOO BROAD" and "YOU WON'T FIT INTO THAT, CHUBSTER" (maybe not the last one, but those sales assistants are definitely thinking that when they eye me up). Ahhh, culture gaps.
But then i get home and there's real chocolate and cake and i remember i just love food too much. Besides, oversized clothing is cool, right? Bodycon is soooo last season.

Just got back from China - I've survived 40 degree heat, allergic reactions and sea cucumber soup. But it was all worth it to stuff my face with my granny's duck wings and lu dou sa, and to sweat it out in RodartexOC in the Lane Crawford changing rooms (and to sneakily purchase some mahussively discounted Alexander Wang shoes).

Current uniform until the weather figures out what it's doing - sleeves rolled up + sunglasses when it's warm, sleeves down + umbrella when it's pissing it down. Rotating through trainers/DMs/sandals/boots depending on my mood. It's sad how happy i am that everything goes with this outfit, minimal fuss required.

Browsing through discotheque confusion and found the mother of all quotes:

These jeans are the closest i've felt to that sentiment. My bum will never be chloe sevigny/thelma & louise worthy but i'm completely swung by high-waisted goodness and just the right amount of snugness on my thighs. Just have to remind myself not to wear them when there's a huge amount of food to be eaten (may have done some (un)subtle unbuttoning once).

i lucked out at the dover street market sale. i like to think of it as a reward for sheer determination (had to have a 4.30am start to avoid bridge closures!).
tried on a christopher kane scalloped piece of joy, but even with the discount, i couldn't afford to buy it and eat for the rest of term. oh well.

the shoes have not left my feet, i am determined to break them in as soon as possible.

(anyone who's in london/can travel there should definitely head to the market, it's ace and on again tomorrow!)

Gorged on home-baked banana bread, bacon breakfasts, mini eggs galore, mini egg topped chocolate cake (nigella lawson old-school recipe btw) and the biggest chinese meal ever - there was crackling involved, it was heaven in my mouth.

Found this trench/mac on friday, i never ever find any in the right size so there was much happy dancing in the shop.

Hope everyone's having an ace easter, and please eat loads of chocolate/food so i feel less guilty.

I went to a First Aid Kit concert a couple of weeks ago and it was beautiful. They are brilliant live - amazing voices, matching dresses and very helpful dad.
